Biography: 

Phoebe Ping is a third generation cellist from a family of five cellists.  She began her studies at the age of 7 with her grandfather, who was the dean of music at the Tianjin Conservatory in Tianjin, China. At age 13, she was accepted as a music major to Idyllwild Arts Academy, a college preparatory boarding school for the arts. She holds a BA in music performance from UCLA and an MM in music performance from Boston University, and has won awards at the MTAC Concerto Competition and Goodlin Scholarship Foundation Competition.During her time at UCLA, Phoebe was an outreach performer for the Gluck Outreach Foundation, whose goal was to bring small performances to various communities in Los Angeles, especially schools of underprivileged communities and homes for the elderly.Phoebe is currently a private music teacher and a founding member of the Sunset String Quartet in Los Angeles.
